Faq's

***What types of portraits do you offer?

The most common portrait requested is a head study. This makes it possible to show important details of your pet's features and personality.

However, I also offer full body portraits. You may also request more than one pet on one board. Depending on your preferences I will help you determine the best size portrait for you.

***What medium do you use in creating your portraits?

I use high quality artist's pastels such as Rembrandt and Sennelier. I also use Derwent and Faber-Castell pastel pencils for the detailing work.

I apply several layers of different colors of varying softness in small strokes to create the depth and realism of the portrait.

***What types of surfaces do you use when creating a portrait?

All of my portraits are created on acid free Suede Paper. It is similar to the thickness and feel of suede cloth.

If you prefer, I will mount this paper onto an acid free mounting board free of charge.

(Please see my "Frame/Suede Colors" page to view your color options.)

***Does my portrait include matting and framing?

No. Your portrait will be shipped to you with a sturdy backing board, covered with an acrylic sheet and shrink wrapped for protection. This way you may choose to have your portrait framed to your personal liking in which ever way you choose.

I will custom frame you portrait at an additinal charge. Please see my
"Frames/Suede Colors" page for framing styles available to you.

If you choose to have your portrait custom framed, it will be properly packaged to prevent possible damage. These frames do not come with glass but rather high quality acrylic. This prevents breakage of glass during the shipping process.

You may opt to replace this acrylic with glass upon receiving your portrait. If you choose to do so, take special care not to damage your portrait as I will not be responsible if you accidentally damage it. If you feel uncomfortable in exchanging the acrylic, you can also choose to take it in to a professional frame shop where they can do this for you for a nominal fee.

I have one of these frames on my wall and am pleased with the acrylic and have no desire to exchange it with glass. Be sure to use a scratch free cloth or duster when cleaning it so it doesn't scratch.

Once your portrait is completed and approved by you, (through e-mail photos) I will find the best suited mat board colors and frame styles that best compliment your portrait.

If you have any color requests, please let me know. Although, sometimes when a specific scheme is in mind, it will not look right with the actual portrait.

I will help you decide which colors are well suited for the portrait. The most common are earth tones, black, grays and green tones.

Once you have made your choices, I will then place an order to my suppliers. (Some items I have in stock) Once I receive the framing suppIies, I will then frame your portrait for you.

Please allow an extra 7-14 days from the selection of your framing choices to the completed, framed portrait.
Since I have some items on hand, completion times will vary. I will notify you about the approximate length of time it will be.
