I began creating Pet Portraits in late 2003 after I saw a display of colored pencil portraits at our local SPCA. Upon seeing these, and how beautiful they were, and after alot of research about pastels, I began giving it a try with a few pastels and a canvas.
Over several attempts at achieving the desired results with a few different surfaces, I found out about Suede and how it really makes a Pet Portrait pop with realism.
This is the method that I use today and absolutely love.
Soon thereafter, I decided to display my art on my own website.
I continue to enjoy greatly what I do and I enjoy how it makes people feel once they see their finished portrait.
Hearing the comments from my clients on how I captured their pet perfectly gives me such sense of accomplishment.
I love the animal world immensely and will forever be capturing their spirit with a few pastels and a suede canvas.
This website is dedicated In Memory to my beloved "Major" who passed away in January 2004 from Osteosarcoma. He was the heart and soul of my interest in creating Pet Portraits.
You can see his portrait in the Dogs Gallery
